Planning and Researching with AI

Students can use AI in the planning research stages of their assessment if it is used as directed by teachers and within the allowable assistance guidelines.

Uses include:

  • Concept/idea creation
  • Collations of initial research information
  • Formatting and structure recommendations

Cannot be used to create content.

Points to consider

Points to be considered when using AI apps to research and plan:

  • Are the articles fabricated? Note that AI is prone to hallucinations which result in false or incorrect data being included.
  • Are you able to access the complete documents or are they behind a pay wall?
  • Be mindful that these platforms may generate new content, for example article summaries. It is YOUR responsibility to ensure that your use of AI complies with TAFE Queensland policy.
  • TAFE Queensland product, such as complete assessment questions, are not to be entered into AI apps.
  • Be aware that some of these apps collect, store and share user information with third parties.
  • Potential copyright issues in relation to ownership of intellectual property as opposed to content created.
