Academic Integrity

🎥 Academic integrity 🎥 is, ‘the expectation that teachers, students, researchers and all members of the academic community act with: honesty, trust, fairness, respect and responsibility.’ (TEQSA, 2022). 

Behaviour which breaches academic integrity includes but is not limited to:

Academic Integrity, AI and TAFE Queensland

TAFE Queensland supports the allowable assistance of generative AI tools; where allowable assistance refers to the planning and research that contributes indirectly to the drafting of assessment and submissions; including:

  1. Concepts/idea creation
  2. Collation of initial research information
  3. Formatting and structure recommendations
  4. Recommendations for further evaluation and research

Note, TAFE Queensland will not tolerate the use of AI where there is a:

  1. Misrepresentation of AI-generated content as one’s own in learning, teaching, research or assessment
  2. Failure to disclose the use of AI in the preparation of the content
  3. Use of third-party resources generated through the use of AI in any other form that compromises academic integrity
  4. Contract cheating in any form, e.g. use of purchased advanced AI prompting to complete an assessment or to avoid detection
  5. Use of third-party AI detection sites or tools, where the security of data storage and information privacy are unknown
  6. Sharing of sensitive personal information of staff or students in using AI tools

If using AI at TAFE Queensland, it is your responsibility to ensure your use of AI complies with applicable TAFE Queensland policies.
