CERAMIC SCULPTURE: Inspiring Techniques: With sculpture, clay provides more possibilities than any other medium. It's possible to build with any forming process and even combine other media. Many contemporary artists demonstrate some of the infinite possibilities of clay for manifesting ideas into a physical reality. Whether their sculptures are figurative or abstract, large or small, the variety is sure to inspire your creativity.

Creating a successful sculpture requires an imaginative concept and a sound design that utilize the potential and avoid the limitations of the material and the process used in making it. Prior to a few decades ago, most sculptors were restricted to carving stone and wood or casting plaster, ceramics and bronze for their creations. Contemporary sculptors, however, are no longer bound by the limitations of these traditional materials and processes, and can now create works in sizes, forms and textures that could not have been achieved previously.

This book represents a research endeavour in the area of contemporary sculpture, describing an unexplored tendency in the development of the relationship between sculpture and the natural elements, referred to here as Elemental Sculpture. The studies included in this book reveal the context of locations where this kind of sculpture may be found – park, urban landscape, nature – and discuss the impact of these places on the development of sculpture.This book examines the tendency towards Elemental Sculpture as part of a new level of relationship between man and nature in arts and in general.

The Sculpture 100 is a journey through one hundred public sculptures made across one hundred years. In 1905, Thomas Brock and Aston Webb began work on their final grand celebration of Victoria Regina, the Victoria Memorial, at one end of London's Mall. A century later, Marc Quinn's Alison Lapper Pregnant sits triumphant on the fourth plinth in Trafalgar Square. This is a film about these, and ninety-eight other distinctive, significant, quirky, glorious public sculptures made for England in the century in between.

Historic Italian sculptor Giacomo Manzù used to say that the sculpture is a hand gesture, a gesture of love. This documentary follows the process of creating one of Velasco Vitali’s famous dog sculptures, from wax to glazed bronze, at Fonderia Artistica Battaglia (Battaglia Artistic Foundry) in Milan.

The film features artist Frank Stella as he walks us through his 2012 exhibition “Black Aluminum Copper Paintings” at L&M Arts. The film also features commentary on Frank’s life and career from Adam Weinberg (Alice Pratt Brown Director, Whitney Museum of American Art, NY) and Ann Temkin (Marie-Josée and Henry Kravis Curator of Painting and Sculpture, Museum of Modern Art, NY).
